For many people, it must have been difficult to start a new day after the horrific weekend. I started my day with a heavy heart but what brought me back was this beautiful quote that somebody shared with me.
“You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty. ”
The Christchurch Terrorist attack shook the whole world, especially New Zealanders. It took the pride of having the safest haven on earth from them. What makes me proud of being a New Zealander today is that everyone rejected the hate call heavily. People from all faiths put their differences aside and got together to show solidarity with the victims. So far 6.3 million have gathered to help the victim’s family. What I’m most proud of is our Prime Minister, who showed commendable leadership in such a challenging time and won millions of hearts.
For the first time, the world felt strongly that terrorism is an act of extremism, and they were able to separate it from Islam. And those who thought the other way got an egg to their heads. So this world has only become better after this incident. The sacrifice of our beloved community members will not go to waste and I will carry on spreading the message of love and oneness to my neighbours, at my workplace and everyone around.
